I included this image in my 2014 faves for several reasons. First of all, I love the softness and subtlety of the photograph. The colours are gentle and muted and the falling snow softens the whole scene and reflects how peaceful and quiet the woods were when I shot them. In addition, this snowfall happened in late October...very unusual to get snow here so early. To get snow at the same time that many autumn leaves were still on the trees was very special and rare and I was lucky to be able to shoot it. It was also one of the first times since recovering that I did photography in a place other than my home or in a parking lot!
