theme 11 week 1: CHAOS

theme 11 week 1: CHAOS - 2016: 12 Months 12 themes
The next 4 weeks will portray chaos in our photographs. Some scenes are very chaotic, with shapes and lines going every direction with no apparent pattern or logic. Such situations can be difficult to photograph because they often result in images that are confusing and messy, leaving the viewer with no idea as to what to look at. This view of hydro towers was made up of a complete jumble of metal structures and wires which went in every direction. I wanted to portray the chaos, but also wanted to impose some sort of structure onto the image by looking for areas that could provide some kind of order. I composed the photograph so that there would be two main shapes; the one on the left side of the picture has much more white space between the lines than the shape on the left, in which the lines are much more densely arranged. The scene is still very chaotic but to my eye, has some structure. Please click here to see Simone's image.
