theme 1 week 1: NEGATIVE SPACE

This month's theme is negative space. In this close up of lettering on a sign, the black background on the sign is the negative space. Because I have cropped closely to make the letters almost indecipherable white shapes, the black negative spaces become shapes as well, and add much to the graphic design aspect of the image.
