I love this image for a couple of reasons. First of all, it's a mindfuck...hard to tell what it's a photograph of. I enjoy that. Secondly, it was made in the most ordinary situation, something I get a huge kick out of doing. I was in a bathroom in a service center on the New York State thruway, in a stall. The door was black with speckles, so I shot it and part of the floor with my iPhone. I have a thing for shooting in bathrooms. What I enjoy is it almost looks like I was standing on a platform on the edge of a spaceship, in space, ready to leap.
