week 1

I have a collection of graphic, colourful photographs that I made of the sky and parts of a brightly painted building in Scottsdale, Arizona. Each of them is comprised of blocks of colour, in various configurations. To create this grid, I either cropped or resized each of the nine photographs into a square shape, and then digitally imported them onto a new canvas. Next I moved them around into different positions until I was happy with the balance and distribution of colour. The process was very similar to assembling a jigsaw puzzle. Presenting these photographs together, as a collage, emphasizes the joyful, exuberant personality of the building.
