week 13

The day was overcast with a very uninteresting sky when I found this bright yellow canola field beside a busy road. Because the road was level with the field, and I had no way to get up higher, there was no choice but to include the bland sky, which, unfortunately took up a lot of the upper part of the frame. I moved to the other side of the road hoping to have more foreground grasses to include , but didn't like the pavement...until I realized that the painted yellow lines echoed the canola colour. Shooting in breaks in the traffic , I lowered the camera to include the road, and panned horizontally, moving the camera enough to render the elements into a pattern of bands of blended colour. The small strip of grey sky echoed the grey pavement nicely, and to me, was no longer a detriment.
