week 33

WEEK 33: Maui, Hawaii
My husband and I are in Hawaii, surrounded by gorgeous and exotic sights. There are things to photograph everywhere, and I have been shooting up a storm in wonderful locations. However, one of the rules of this project is that my weekly photograph must be made on hotel propery, if travelling. Since the hotel is on a beautiful tropical beach, there were many thiings I could have photographed right on the property, and I did just that, but I chose this image for this week because it could have been made anywhere. That is the point of the project...to reinforce my belief that you don't need to travel very far to create a photograph. There is a small pool near the lobby, filled with koi. I was shooting them, and then noticed the reflection in the water, of a small cluster of bare branches on a shrub which was growing on the other side of the pool. To me, the reflection resembled a pen and ink line drawing, and when I processed the image digitally, I tweaked it a bit to enhance that impression.
