week 15

WEEK 15: HOME, ONTARIO
I was in the mood to photograph in the studio this week and create some abstracts. Several years ago I was very interested in shooting reflections in shiny foil from containers of coloured water. This time I decided to explore the possibilities of photographing a cut glass vase filled with coloured water. That didn't work as well as I'd hoped, so I placed several sheets of blue and purple construction paper behind the vase. Using my macro lens, I played with the lines and areas of colour, and made a series of abstract images. Because the cut glass pattern was symmetrical, the photograph seemed too static to me, so in Photoshop I tweaked it a bit to give it more movement and interest.
