When I saw this old beachside building which was boarded up for the winter, I was struck not only by the contrast of the dark screen door against the white boards, but also the variety of shapes formed by the different boards and seams and wood trim on the structure. I composed tightly when shooting the scene, including only part of the door and the adjacent white boards. A square crop in post processing, dividing the picture space in half with one side dark and one side light, reinforces the design of varying rectangular shapes.
